It contains choline salicylate, a painkiller and anti-inflammatory agent that soothes sore areas in the mouth. Additionally, it includes an antiseptic called cetalkonium chloride, which effectively kills bacteria and aids in preventing infection. You can use bonjela for sore gums, mouth ulcers, cold sores or any other mouth discomfort.
Always use bonjela toothache gel exactly as described in the Patient Information Leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist have told you. If you are unsure, check with your doctor or pharmacist. This medicine is intended for use by adults and children over the age of 16 only. For mouth ulcers and sores, apply approximately one centimeter (half an inch) of bonjela onto the sore area using a clean finger. This can be repeated after 3 hours. For denture sores, massage approximately one centimeter of bonjela onto the sore area and leave at least 30 minutes before reinserting the dentures. Do not apply bonjela directly onto the dentures. Do not exceed the recommended dosage stated on the label or leaflet to avoid salicylate toxicity. If your symptoms persist after 7 days of treatment, consult your doctor or dentist.
If you would rather an oral painkiller, why not try Co Codamol
Like all medicines, Bonjela can cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them. It’s crucial to stop taking this product and seek immediate medical help if you experience unexplained wheezing or coughing, asthma, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, itching, face, tongue, or throat swelling, as these could be signs of serious allergic reactions. For full details refer to the Patient Information Leaflet
As per the manufacturer’s recommendation, bonjela tooth pain gel may begin to take effect within 10 minutes of application.
