Frequently Asked Questions - FAQs

Migraleve tablets are available in two variants, Migraleve pink and yellow which can be purchased separately or together in one pack to offer a complete solution for migraine symptoms. The Pink tablets contain paracetamol, codeine, and buclizine, designed to ease pain and relieve nausea and vomiting, thus targeting all symptoms associated with migraines. By taking Migraleve Pink tablets at the first sign of a migraine, users may prevent a full-blown attack from developing. The Yellow tablets contain paracetamol and codeine, providing ongoing pain relief and addressing continuing migraine symptoms. These should be taken after the first dose of Pink tablets. Although codeine, an opioid analgesic, is a key ingredient in both types of tablets, its use is typically reserved for short-term relief of moderate pain in children over 12 years and adults when other painkillers like paracetamol or ibuprofen are not sufficient.

Before taking this medicine, there are important precautions to consider. First, this medication contains paracetamol, so avoid taking any other products with paracetamol while using this medicine. Additionally, you should not use this medication for longer than three days at a time, as regular use of codeine can lead to addiction, causing restlessness and irritability when you stop taking it. Taking painkillers too often or for too long can worsen headaches.

While this medicine is suitable for most people, certain conditions and circumstances warrant caution or avoidance. Do not use this medicine unless your migraines have been diagnosed by a doctor, or if you’ve taken other painkillers within the last four hours. You should also avoid it if you are allergic to paracetamol, codeine, buclizine, or any other ingredients in the medicine. It is not suitable for children under 12 years old, or for children and adolescents (0-18 years) after removal of their tonsils or adenoids due to obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. If you’ve recently experienced shallow breathing, bowel obstruction, a head injury, or raised pressure in your skull (which could cause painful eyes, vision changes, or headaches behind the eyes), you should also avoid this medicine. Do not use this medicine if you metabolize codeine into morphine very rapidly, or if you’re breastfeeding.

If any of these conditions apply to you, it is crucial to seek advice from a doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine. If you are unable to take this medication visit our Coughs, Colds And Flus homepage where we have plenty of options such as Paramol.

To take this medicine, refer to the recommended dosage in the Patient Information Leaflet and ensure you follow these guidelines. This medication is for oral use only, so swallow the tablets with a glass of water. You should not take the tablets within four hours of other painkillers. Begin with Migraleve Pink tablets, and do not exceed the specified dose outlined in the instructions. Additionally, this medicine should not be taken for more than three days. If your pain does not improve within that timeframe, consult your doctor for further advice.
