How to Use:

  • Adults and Teenagers (13+): Hold your breath and spray 3 times towards the back of your throat. Repeat every 2-3 hours, but no more than 8 times a day for up to 3 days.
  • Children (6-12 years): Use only with adult supervision. Ensure the child can hold their breath while spraying.Then, hold breath and spray once towards the back of the throat. Repeat every 2-3 hours, but no more than 8 times a day for up to 3 days.
  • Important:
    • Do not spray into eyes. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.
    • Discontinue use if symptoms worsen or persist after 3 days. Consult a doctor or pharmacist.
    • Temporary throat numbness is normal and indicates the spray is working. Avoid eating or drinking until the numbness fades.
    • If accidentally overdosed and feel drowsy, seek immediate medical attention.

 

Allergic reactions have been reported occasionally with benzocaine. Although very unlikely, if your breathing is affected after using the spray, or if your face or mouth become swollen, stop using the spray and seek immediate medical advice.

Methaemoglobinaemia (a very rare blood condition) has been reported with Benzocaine use.

For Adults, Teenagers, and Children over 6 (with adult supervision):

  1. Prepare the Spray:
    • Remove the cap and twist the nozzle halfway out (see diagram).
    • If new or unused for a while, prime the pump with 3 sprays away from your face (e.g., into a sink).
  2. Get Ready to Spray:
    • Hold the bottle with your index finger on the pump.
    • Open your mouth slightly and aim the nozzle towards the back of your throat (see diagram).
  3. Apply the Spray:
    • Hold your breath and press the pump to spray 3 times for adults/teenagers or 1 time for children (6-12 years).Repeat every 2-3 hours, but no more than 8 times a day for 3 days maximum.
    • Important: Avoid spraying your eyes. If this happens, rinse thoroughly with water.
  4. After Effects:
    • You may feel temporary throat numbness, indicating the spray is working. Avoid eating or drinking until the numbness fades.
    • If you accidentally overuse the spray and feel drowsy, consult a doctor immediately.

DO NOT use this Dry Throat Spray if:

    • you have difficulty in breathing, noisy breathing or severe difficulty in swallowing. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor if this applies to you

    • you know you are allergic to benzocaine or any of the other ingredients (see Section 6, Further Information)

    • you have been told that you have a rare blood condition called methaemoglobinaemia

    • you are pregnant or breast-feeding

      DO NOT use this medicine for children under 6 years of age.

      This medicine contains a small quantity of alcohol (less than 0.006 units per spray) to dissolve the other ingredients. Contains propylene glycol – this may cause skin irritation.

      If your sore throat is severe or prolonged, or accompanied by fever, headache, or feeling sick, consult a doctor.
